Our Application
Munich Sports All
As a symbol of support for the LGBTIQ+ community against discrimination and in favour of sporting success, tolerance, integration, emancipation and respect, Munich proudly hosted the EuroGames 20 years ago. Now we want to renew this symbol by bidding for the EuroGames 2027 and take this commitment to a new level.
With a population of 1.5 million, Munich offers a unique blend of German efficiency and southern flair. Its proximity to the Alps, Austria and Italy contributes to the city’s distinctive atmosphere. With a 40% international population which make Munich to one of the most diverse cities in Germany and 700 sports clubs with more than 600,0000 members Munich would be an ideal host for the 2027 EuroGames.
Our partner, the Munich Olympic Park, an example of some of the most groundbreaking architecture in the world, will be the impressive stage for the EuroGames 2027 in Munich, presenting more sport than ever before. 55 years after the 1972 Olympic Games, which were called the “Rainbow Games”, it would be a dream to host the EuroGames here again. Well, sometimes dreams really do come true …

Sports With No Limits
How serious we are about our application can be seen by the choice of the sports facility. We place the EuroGames 2027 in the middle of the Olympic Park in Munich. It was built for the 1972 Olympic Summer Games and ever since has been world-famous for its roof construction. The majority of the 2027 EuroGames competitions will take place in the Olympic sports complex, in the adjacent Technical University Sports Complex and in municipal school sports facilities in the immediate vicinity.

Next Steps
The final decision is only months away.
As a first important step on the way to EuroGames 2027, we hosted the Annual General Assembly (AGA) of the EGLSF in March 2023. During this event we officially announced Munich’s plans to bid for the EuroGames 2027.
The next step was on 1 October when we sent our official letter of intent to the EGLSF.

On 31 December 2023 we submitted our Bid Book to the EGLSF. This comprehensive document contains all the detailed plans for EuroGames 2027 in Munich and our new ideas.
A final important step will be the next EGLSF General Assembly from 1 to 3 March 2024 in Antwerp. Here we will present our plans for the EuroGames in Munich and promote our bid – before the delegates of the various EGLSF member associations will make the all-important decision which city will be host in 2027.
So we still have a few months to work on our bid, to convince the delegates of our case and to get them excited about Munich.
To accomplish these and all the other steps in the coming months, we need support. That is why we are looking for volunteers from the Munich LGBTIQ+ community and beyond who would like to contribute their ideas and help us achieve our ambitious goals.
